Aging

I went to Verizon the other night because my mom wanted to get the iPhone 4s. My mom, bless her heart, is having trouble reading tiny font without her glasses these days. But she was determined to own her first smartphone, and the fancy iPhone at that. So I said to her:

Me: Mom, I want you to type “I am sending this text message” without your glasses on.

Mom: I can do that.

*proceeds to type it painfully slow, but perfect nonetheless

I didn’t have the heart to tell her she succeeded because of the auto-correct, but she looked pleased with herself so I let her have her moment.

She’ll be ordering the iPhone this weekend.

Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith. I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.
